Researcher – Private Markets IR & Fundraising Practice

My client is a specialist executive search firm focused on Investor Relations and fundraising talent across Private Equity, Alternative Credit and Infrastructure. They partner with leading alternative asset managers globally and are looking to hire a highly analytical and commercially minded Researcher to support senior search mandates across the private markets landscape.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with research, recruitment or executive search experience who wants to develop deep expertise within private markets fundraising and investor relations.

The Role

You will work closely with Consultants and Principals to deliver retained search assignments focused on Investor Relations, Capital Raising and Fundraising professionals from VP through to Partner level.

The role combines executive search delivery, market intelligence, candidate engagement and business development research support, offering broad exposure to private equity firms, institutional investors and fundraising markets.

Key Responsibilities

Research Market Mapping
• Conduct detailed market mapping projects across private equity, alternative credit and infrastructure markets
• Identify and engage high-calibre Investor Relations and fundraising professionals from VP to Partner level
• Track fund launches, organisational changes, team moves and market developments
• Develop expertise across GP-LP dynamics, fundraising cycles and investor relations best practices
• Build and maintain high-quality target company and candidate pipelines

Candidate Identification Assessment
• Source candidates through direct outreach, networking, LinkedIn Recruiter and market research
• Conduct initial screening conversations to assess experience, motivations and suitability
• Evaluate fundraising track records and LP relationship management capabilities
• Prepare candidate reports, profiles and client briefing materials
• Build long-term relationships across the private markets community through proactive outreach and networking

Project Search Delivery Support
• Support Consultants and Directors on retained executive search mandates
• Assist with search strategy development tailored to client requirements
• Coordinate interviews and candidate communications throughout search processes
• Maintain accurate CRM records and produce client progress updates
• Conduct reference checks and background research where required

Market Intelligence Research
• Monitor trends across private equity fundraising, LP allocations, fund performance and hiring activity
• Track compensation trends and organisational structures within IR and fundraising teams
• Produce market insight reports and research presentations for clients and internal stakeholders
• Engage with market participants to validate trends and gather intelligence
• Support data-driven business development initiatives through market analysis and research

Business Development Research Support
• Deliver applied market research to support proactive client engagement strategies
• Map target funds, LP ecosystems and emerging investment themes
• Provide intelligence on new fundraises, investments, spin-outs and market developments
• Support senior relationship-building initiatives with high-quality research materials

LP Network Development
• Engage with institutional investors to understand evolving allocation strategies and market sentiment
• Conduct outreach and interviews with LPs to gather intelligence on investment preferences and fundraising trends
• Analyse and communicate actionable LP insights internally to support advisory and commercial activity

Requirements

Essential
• Bachelor’s degree
• 1–3 years’ experience within executive search, recruitment, research or professional services
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• High attention to detail and strong organisational ability
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter, CRM systems and research tools
• Professional discretion and ability to handle confidential information

Desirable
• Understanding of private equity structures, fundraising processes and GP-LP dynamics
• Existing network within private markets or institutional investment communities
• Experience using Boolean search and advanced sourcing techniques
